The role

We are looking for a PHP Engineer to join the Ferryhopper team in Athens. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the integration of new ferry companies and 3rd party data providers into the online booking platform ferryhopper.com. 

Responsibilities

• Integrate APIs of different data providers and ferry operators into Ferryhopper
• Bridge the business logic of 3rd party APIs with that of Ferryhopper
• Optimize existing integrations' performance and ensure scalability and reliability
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge-sharing
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them to operations and activities

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Web application development (open-source or freelancing counts)
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles and best practices
• Strong programming abilities in PHP 7.1+
• Working experience on Symfony/Laravel Framework
• Wide experience in the use of Git version control systems and issue-tracking tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code

It would be a plus:

• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker)
• Familiar with testing suits and CI/CD tools
• Hands-on experience with unit testing in PHP (PHPUnit, Codeception)
• Experience in RESTful APIs
• Good comprehension of SOAP Services
• Familiarity with Amazon AWS
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, MariaDB)

Remote policy: For teams located in Athens, the policy is to visit the office four (4) times per month. These four days can be scheduled in the same week or on non-consecutive days; there are no restrictions on the arrangement.
