Job Description
We look beyond what a resume can highlight. If you do not have the exact experience or skills outlined below, but think you would be a great asset to Abilitie, please apply for the role.
Note about Hiring Timeline: Our team is proactively posting this position and we aim to hire someone based in North America later in 2025
About the Role
Abilitie is looking for a Client Business Director who is ready to take full ownership of client relationships, navigate complexity confidently, and push the boundaries of leadership development. In this high-impact role, you will deliver our flagship programs to Fortune 500 clients, ensuring that each engagement not only meets expectations but redefines them. You will lead with strategic insight, proactive problem-solving, and relentless accountability, balancing program design with consultative selling to drive client growth and retention.
This is not a passive account management role—it’s an opportunity to own outcomes, build deep trust, and create long-term partnerships that grow both our clients' businesses and our own. Reporting to a Senior Business Partner, this role demands precision in execution, adaptability in approach, and a solutions-oriented mindset in every interaction.
If you thrive in high-stakes environments where success is earned through influence, integrity, and ownership, this could be the perfect role for you.
Who You Are
- A Relationship Builder: You instinctively understand how to cultivate trust, advocate for clients, and balance their needs with business objectives. You measure success not just in sales, but in long-term impact. Experience within the Leadership & Development space is beneficial in building credibility with clients.
- An Opportunity Seeker with High EQ: You read the room, sense when to push forward and when to step back, and know that timing and delivery are just as important as the message itself. A background in consultative sales is extremely beneficial for success.
- A Proactive Communicator: You don’t wait for questions—you anticipate them. You stay three steps ahead to create a seamless experience for clients and teammates alike.
- An Accountability Champion: You take ownership of outcomes—both the wins and the challenges. If something goes wrong, you fix it. If something goes right, you build on it. Project management experience is highly beneficial.
- A Curious Learner: You seek feedback, embrace new ideas, and stay focused on the long game—knowing that ego has no place in true partnership.
What You Will Do
- Own the Client Experience: Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring that every engagement delivers tangible impact and strengthens long-term partnerships.
- Drive Growth Through Trust: Expand client relationships by consistently providing value—not by pushing unnecessary sales, but by positioning the right solutions at the right time.
- Lead Complex Global Programs: Coordinate large-scale leadership development initiatives, working closely with senior executives, facilitators, and internal teams to ensure flawless execution.
- Provide Thought Leadership: Collaborate with clients to design high-impact leadership programs that leverage our award-winning simulations and methodologies.
- Engage Senior-Level Stakeholders: Act as a trusted strategic partner by working directly with HR and business leaders at some of the world’s most recognized organizations.
- Execute with Excellence: From event planning to marketing research, no task is too big or too small—every detail matters.
- Solve Problems Before They Happen: Approach every challenge with a solutions-first mindset, ensuring that obstacles become opportunities.
This Role Is Likely Not A Match If
- You prefer to be told what to do rather than take initiative. This role requires a self-starter who thrives on accountability and ownership.
- You’re uncomfortable navigating ambiguity. Clients will have unique and evolving needs—there is no script to follow.
- You see sales as a transaction rather than a partnership. Our approach is rooted in trust, not quick wins.
- You avoid difficult conversations. Success in this role requires delivering hard truths with tact and confidence.
- You struggle with feedback and iteration. Growth comes from learning, adjusting, and improving—both personally and professionally.
- You need a rigid structure to be effective. This role demands adaptability, creative problem-solving, and flexibility in the face of changing priorities.
Unique Perks
- Fully paid employee medical benefits, which include HSA and FSA options, dental, vision, STD/LTD, and Life Insurance as well as a Matching 401K.
- Unlimited PTO, parental leave, and sabbatical program
- Learning Opportunities – Our simulations are typically accompanied by world-class professional development, which will almost certainly benefit your own career development.
- Great Company Culture – We’ve been recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the Best Workplaces in America for 2 years running.
- Competitive Pay – We hire great folks and our salaries are set with that in mind.
- High Impact – As a valued Abilitie employee, each contribution you make will have high visibility and drive real business.
