POSITION SUMMARY
The School-Based Mental Health Specialist will provide high-quality behavioral health outreach, linkage, consultation and collaboration between Centennial and school districts. The SBMHS will work broadly on systemic issues within schools and school districts as well as work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend monthly school-based mental health supervision meeting facilitated by BHA
- Follow a school mental health multi-teared system of mental health supports, a framework that supports equity-based inclusion to address the academic, behavioral and mental health needs of all students within the educational system.
- Provide consultation and support to schools and districts around School Based Mental Health Consultation Tiered Resource Guide.
- Provide school districts and individual schools with education, referrals, consultations, planning, information and other needed mental health services which are tailored to each district, depending on what they need.
- Attend professional development opportunities and advanced training
- Completes reporting requirements for applicable funding sources
- Maintain accurate and timely records consistent with Center standards
- Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor
EDUCATION
Masters level or Bachelor’s level in education or behavioral health related field.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Experience working with educators, children and adolescents in the school-based setting.
- Must have skills in relationship building; be sensitive to cultural differences; have enhanced competencies when working with educators, school administrators and students from various backgrounds.
- Ability to form and work closely with community coalitions.
- Knowledge and skill sets directly related to prevention, intervention and referral for treatment of school-aged children.
- Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
