The Role: 

Join our dynamic development team as a Senior PHP Developer, where you'll play a key role in building and maintaining the web application suite. You'll be responsible for crafting robust application logic and implementing scalable, high-performance code across both new and existing web platforms. Your expertise in object-oriented PHP, MySQL, HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS will be essential, and familiarity with modern frameworks will be a strong asset. 

Working closely with fellow engineers, project managers, and business analysts, you'll contribute to both front-end and back-end development, ensuring all components meet performance standards and align with brand and UX best practices. You'll also take ownership of preliminary testing before handing off to QA, helping ensure quality from the ground up.

The main responsibilities of the position include: 

• Design and implement new features/projects 

• Maintain and refactor existing web applications, registration forms, Members Area and internal web services 

• Optimize database schemas, write efficient queries, and enhance overall database performance 

• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to define, document, and refine functional and technical requirements 
• Conduct code reviews and audits to ensure adherence to established coding standards and best practices  

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar position 

• Very good knowledge of PHP 7/8,  

• Advanced knowledge of MySQL8, 

• Experience in creating and consuming web services 

• Experience with modern PHP frameworks 

• Advanced JavaScript and jQuery 

• Ability to research and adapt new web technologies that add value to the team 

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise 

• Problem solving and analytical skills 

• Ability to work independently and integrate well within a team 

The following will be considered an advantage: 

• Computer science degree or equivalent 

• Very good understanding of security practices 

• Experience with cloud providers 

• Experience in database query optimization 

• Experience with upgrading legacy projects
