The Role
Modern Health is seeking a part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) Medical Director with expertise in psychiatry to join our Clinical Strategy & Research team. This role is responsible for oversight of the high-quality psychiatric care and medical management across our digital mental health platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Clinical Officer, the Medical Director will provide clinical oversight for our medication management network including credentialing, compliance and quality review processes, support go-to-market strategy through thought leadership, and engage directly with customers and external stakeholders.
This role is pivotal in shaping the delivery of psychiatric services, advancing Modern Health’s reputation in the market, and supporting our adaptive care model that serves a full spectrum of member needs.
This position is not eligible to be performed in Hawaii.
What You’ll Do
Clinical Oversight & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain accountability for the quality and safety of psychiatry and medication management services, providing guidance on clinical protocols and best practices for digital delivery
- Provide clinical leadership and escalation point for high risk or complex cases
- Provide clinical input for the psychiatry and medication management network to include credentialing, recredentialing and performance reviews
- Advise on policies to support regulatory compliance in psychiatric care, telehealth, and medication managementReview and advise on incident management including peer review, continuous quality improvement, and clinical risk management for psychiatry and medication management services
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support continuity and maintain evidence-based standards and safety policies across care modalities
Commercial & Customer Engagement
- Partner with Sales, Client Success, and Marketing to represent Modern Health’s clinical excellence in psychiatric care during client-facing activities (e.g., prospect calls, webinars, RFPs, industry presentations)
- Deliver impactful presentations, demos, and written responses that translate complex clinical concepts and outcomes for a broad audience
- Act as a thought leader and clinical spokesperson at external forums, conferences, and customer workshops
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy
- Collaborate with internal teams (Clinical Strategy and Quality teams, Product, Operations, Legal and Compliance) to inform product innovation, service design, and market positioning for psychiatric and medication management offerings
- Share field insights and customer feedback with clinical, product, and research teams to inform strategic decisions
- Advise on the integration of psychiatric expertise into marketing, communications, and educational materials
Function Building & Industry Leadership
- Play a key role in developing scalable processes and best practices for psychiatric service delivery at Modern Health
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulatory changes, and evidence in digital mental health, psychiatry, and telemedicine
- Contribute to building Modern Health’s profile as a leading, clinically credible digital health organization
Who You Are
- Board-Certified Psychiatrist (MD or DO): Medical degree (MD or DO) with completed psychiatric training and active, unrestricted licensure to practice psychiatry in the United States
- Medication Management Expert: Demonstrated experience in evidence-based psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management, including digital/telehealth models
- Digital Health Experience: Prior experience or familiarity with digital health service delivery, especially within startup or rapidly scaling environments (preferred)
- Clinical Leader & Thought Partner: Ability to distill complex psychiatric concepts for diverse audiences and represent clinical outcomes in commercial contexts
- Strategic & Collaborative: Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving organization and adapting to shifting priorities
- Mission-Driven: Passionate about advancing mental health care through innovation, quality, and access
- Detail-Oriented & Autonomous: Takes initiative, operates independently, and strives for accuracy in every deliverable
- Flexible Team Player: Willing to support priorities outside core responsibilities to achieve organizational objectives

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown. Ranges are not necessarily indicative of the associated starting pay range in other locations. Depending on the scope of the role, some ranges are indicative of On Target Earnings (OTE) and includes both base pay and commission at 100% achievement of established targets.
