Telecom Configuration Technician (Entry Level) - Remote at AireSpring
Job Description
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Configuration Technician to prepare customer-premises equipment (CPE) using predefined templates and step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures. You’ll copy/paste configurations, populate IPs/VLANs/routes, perform basic power-on validation, and document results. Strong English communication and consistency matter more than deep engineering—we’ll train you.
What You’ll Do
Template-based configuration: Copy/paste approved configs into supported devices (e.g., Cisco/Juniper/Adtran/Fortinet/Mushroom), replacing variables (IPs, VLANs, static routes) per worksheet.
Basic activation procedures: Console or out-of-band access, apply config, save/commit, verify reachability (ping, default route, DNS), and capture screenshots/logs.
Checklists & documentation: Follow written SOPs; update tickets, inventory fields, and handoff notes clearly in English.
Quality checks: Run simple “ready to ship” checks (interfaces up, correct VLAN/tagging, management reachability).
Returns/rework: Reapply stock images/factory reset; document simple root cause (mis-typed IP, wrong port/VLAN).
Cross-team handoffs: Notify PM/NOC/Support using templates when gear is ready or needs attention.
Basic networking: IP addressing/subnets, default gateway, VLAN tagging, static routes.
Comfortable following checklists/SOPs and working carefully with templates.
Solid written English; clear ticket/notes.
Familiar with terminal/console tools (PuTTY/Serial/SSH).
Time management: can work PT business hours and meet task SLAs.
Nice to Have (Plus, not required)
FortiGate basics (interfaces, routes, objects, backup/restore).
Any exposure to Cisco/Juniper/Adtran CPE.
Basic Linux commands (scp, ssh, tail).
Intro scripting (very basic Python or YAML literacy) is a bonus.
Working Conditions:
This is a remote position. Candidates must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace to effectively perform job responsibilities.
