Role Overview
PingCAP is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our global accounting team. This team plays a critical role in supporting the company’s worldwide growth, and we are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate closely with both the accounting team and cross-functional partners to execute general ledger and related systems and operational processes and ensure accurate, timely close and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Month-End Close
- Participate in the timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Lead periodic accruals for major cost categories (e.g., cloud, marketing, partner referral fees, professional services, etc.), ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper classification.
- Support the GL&Reporting leader in maintaining the general ledger, chart of accounts, and departmental structure, ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing variance analyses and clear explanations for fluctuations.
- Manage intercompany transactions, including recording, reconciliation, and reporting.
Projects: Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Assist with external audits and regulatory reviews by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Support the tax team leader in tax return preparation, compliance, and audits.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control standards across all reporting activities.
- Participate in special projects as requested by management.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects impacting the accounting function.
- Partner with procurement and business teams to oversee the procure-to-pay process, including review and approval of purchase orders, vendor bills, and expense reports.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes, driving improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Promote and adopt AI technologies within the Finance function to enhance automation and insights.
Qualifications
- Bilingual: Proficiency in English (primary working language) and Mandarin Chinese.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting, ideally within SaaS or technology companies.
- Passionate on adopting new technology including AI tools to automate processes and improve productivity.
- Experience working in a global organization across multiple time zones (currently APAC and US).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems preferred.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge and practical understanding of US GAAP principles.
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, and motivated to solve problems and implement solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
