Job Description

About us

At Text, you'll join a UX Research team that moves fast and shapes what we build. We work in continuous discovery mode: embedded in product squads, testing ideas early, and influencing direction with evidence, not documents. As we push deeper into AI-driven commerce solutions, you'll be exploring uncharted territory, validating emerging concepts, and helping decide what gets built next.

We build TextApp, an AI-first customer communication platform used globally by 38,000+ customers, analyzing data from 1M daily users and handling 3B+ chats.a scale where strong research immediately affects how thousands of companies operate.

This is a fixed-term role until April 2027, opened as maternity cover, with a chance for continuation depending on future needs and mutual fit.

What you'll do

  • Run the full research process end-to-end: define research goals, build hypotheses, and create research scenarios tailored to real product problems.
  • Recruit smart and scrappy. Finding and booking the right US customers for interviews takes creativity and persistence — you'll need to be good at this.
  • Work closely with product teams and uncover user needs, behaviours, and motivations through qualitative research, and combine these insights with quantitative validation.
  • Move fast in ambiguity. Spot research opportunities before they're obvious — weird usage patterns, adoption gaps, contradictory signals — and propose what to investigate.
  • Use AI as your co-pilot. Leverage AI tools for interview moderation, synthesis, clustering, insight generation — whatever accelerates good decisions.
  • Communicate insights in real-time through Slack, quick debriefs, and live sessions. We don't do 40-slide decks - we share learnings early, often, and actionably.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand the “so what” behind findings and help them translate insights into product direction.
  • You're strong match if you

  • Have solid experience as a UX Researcher (mid/senior level) and can independently run end-to-end studies.
  • Thrive in startup mode. Comfortable with shifting priorities, ambiguous problems, and building the plane while flying it.
  • Know how to define clear research goals, hypotheses, and scenarios, and challenge stakeholder assumptions thoughtfully.
  • Communicate insights clearly, concisely, and with respect for people’s time — sharing learnings early and often, rather than through large static reports.
  • Treat AI tools as natural extensions of your workflow.
  • Can combine qualitative and quantitative data to validate the scale and relevance of insights.
  • Are open to conducting interviews in late-afternoon/evening hours with US-based customers
  • Are proactive, curious, and comfortable proposing research topics rather than waiting for requests.
  • Hard skills & tools you should know

  • Fluent English.
  • Strong experience with Dovetail (or similar tools) for synthesis and taggingSolid experience with Amplitude (or similar analytics tools) for behavioural analysis.
  • Experience with Sprig / Amplitude Surveys or equivalent.
  • Ability to design and run qualitative interviews, usability tests, concept validations, and exploratory research.
  • Hands-on experience with AI research tools (automated interviews, AI synthesis, clustering, insight extraction).
  • Strong synthesis skills: prioritizing insights, clustering findings, delivering clear recommendations.
