Data Scientist, Risk & Fraud at Whatnot

📋 Description

• Translate complex data into actionable fraud/risk recommendations.
• Define and own KPIs to measure fraud costs and prevention impact.
• Analyze method effectiveness; partner with product and ML to improve anti-fraud.
• Design, implement, and evaluate feature rollouts to combat bad actors.
• Define and own the fraud experimentation playbook; develop causal-inference frameworks.
• US-based; remote or hub work with commuting distance to NY/Seattle/LA/SF.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years in data; 3+ years in analytics/science for anti-fraud or risk.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Economics, Statistics, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Advanced SQL with Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift; Spark or DBT.
• Python or R for analysis, modeling, and experimentation.
• Experience with A/B testing and causal inference techniques.
• Strong data visualization and BI tool skills.
