Software Engineer Intern - Gateway at Kong

Responsible for designing, building and maintaining API management software and its underlying stack.
Design and implement features including proxying, load balancing, and database support.
Bugs troubleshooting, performance tuning and low-level optimizations.
Engage with the open source community and extend Kong core to support the latest industry trends.
Fill the gaps between Kong and third-party deployment platforms and tooling.
Handle additional tasks requested by the manager.

Course-level experience designing, prototyping, building and debugging scalable distributed apps.
Knowledge of Linux networking stack and systems programming; APIs on L7/L4 transports.
Strong ownership and excellent verbal/written communication; documentation-focused.
Rust programming experience with async Rust.
Hands-on experience with Tokio.
Understanding of inner workings of VM implementations like LuaJIT, eBPF and WASM.
