VMware Migration Specialist

We are Sphera, and we are seeking a highly skilled VMware Migration Specialist to lead the planning and execution of our complex infrastructure and workload migrations.

You will be a key player in defining and delivering our migration strategy, ensuring a seamless transition that minimizes downtime and business disruption.

You will work closely with our IT teams to assess, strategize, and execute migrations, acting as the technical authority for our virtualized environment.

Role Details & Logistics

Working Hours: 09:00 – 18:00 (Central European Time / Spanish time).

Modality: Fully remote.

On-call: No on-call duties.

Overtime: Overtime is available.

Key Responsibilities

Migration Strategy & Assessment: Define and deliver comprehensive migration strategies. Conduct thorough discovery, assessment, and documentation of existing environments.

Technical Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of infrastructure components, including servers, applications, dependencies, storage, networking, and firewall requirements.

Planning & Risk Management: Develop detailed migration plans, including wave planning, rigorous risk assessment, and clearly defined rollback strategies.

Execution & Optimisation: Execute and support pre-migration activities, such as remediation and infrastructure optimisation.

Tooling: Utilise advanced migration tools (e.g., VMware HCX, vMotion, or relevant third-party tools) to facilitate smooth workload transitions.

Post-Migration Support: Ensure thorough validation, testing, and provide robust post-migration support to guarantee service stability and performance.

Essential Skills & Experience

Language: High level of English proficiency (written and spoken) is essential.

Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience in leading complex VMware-based infrastructure and workload migrations.

Technical Proficiency:

Deep expertise in VMware ecosystem (vSphere, vCenter, vMotion).

Hands-on experience with migration tools such as VMware HCX.

Solid understanding of network topology, firewall requirements, and storage dependencies in virtualized environments.

Analytical Mindset: Excellent ability to assess complex environments and identify potential risks before they impact the business.

Communication: Ability to document processes clearly and communicate migration plans effectively to non-technical stakeholders and IT teams.
