Director of Engineering, Managed Database Service at DigitalOcean

📋 Description

• Lead the engineering org for the managed database service end-to-end.
• Build and run a production cloud database service at scale with reliability.
• Make high-judgment reliability decisions balancing speed and quality.
• Set and track clear SLIs/SLOs for availability, backups, and performance.
• Deliver customer value quickly while maintaining reliability and quality.
• Lead relational database product engineering across replication, backup/restore, and HA.

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years in engineering, incl cloud infra, databases, or large-scale platforms.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams (managers or senior tech leads).
• Proven experience building/operating customer-facing cloud services at scale.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and production workloads.
• Experience running high-availability production services with reliability and security.
• Experience with replication, backup/restore, failover, and performance tuning.
