Civil Litigation Attorney at Direct Counsel

Direct Counsel is looking for a civil litigation attorney to join a firm with a great mission to provide tenants with healthy homes by passionately advocating for communities while striving to combat and prevent homelessness.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Be able to manage own caseload up through FSC
• Prepare pleadings, motions, oppositions to demurrers and MX to strike, discovery motions, mediations briefs, MSJ and MSA oppositions
• Be comfortable drafting law and motion off templates, and arguing motions verbally in court (typically remote)
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
• Present cases in court and argue on behalf of clients
• Advise clients on legal matters and guide potential outcomes
• Collaborate with our team of attorneys to develop case strategies
• Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact client cases

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the State Bar Association (CA)
• Proven experience as a litigation attorney, preferably with a focus on civil litigation
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
• Ability to draft legal documents accurately and effectively
• Strong negotiation skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
